Triskus Iskus Paint: Under Anglian Skies.
A new exhibition showcasing the stunning watercolours of Sue Moult.
New exhibition launch!
We are pleased to let you know about Sue Moult’s exhibition of watercolours “Triskus Iskus Paint: Under Anglian Skies", which was hosted from 1st May - 29th May 2022 in our gallery at central Cambridge.
Her works beautifully depict familiar locations to Cambridge, as well as the surrounding areas of the East Anglian coast. With a deft use of watercolour, Sue masters the art of capturing water and shifting skies. We joined Sue as she painted by the river, and you can read our interview together here. This exhibition displays six original works, alongside a number of prints of her paintings. These prints are also available to purchase in the art store section of our online shop. For more of Sue’s work, check out her website.
Sue received her fine art diploma from the Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting, Kensington (Principal Maurice de Sausmarez ARA) in 1971. The next major influences on her work were periods living in Java (where she studied Batik Painting with Ing in Yogyakarta and painted in tropical gardens with Mariette Van Bronckhurst), and in Arabia and the Gulf. She returned to Cambridge in 1994 and, since then have concentrated on watercolour landscapes of Cambridge and East Anglia, and other parts of Europe and further afield visited on holiday. For many years she also participated in life-painting classes run by James Horton RA, working in watercolours. These classes and the wealth of experience gained whilst living overseas have undoubtedly had a major influence on the style of her recent work, some of which can be seen in her Cambridge Open Studios portfolio.
