编者按

在本期读诗会中，英国知名诗人李道（Richard Berengarten）将用两种语言为我们朗诵一首他翻译成英文的古老诗歌《每日挽歌》Daily Lament。

李道是Richard的中文名，他曾出版著作超过30部，获得过多个诗歌奖项。他对诗歌编译也颇有研究。今天我们分享的这首诗歌，是克罗地亚诗人丁·乌耶夫维茨（Tin Ujević，1891-1955）于100年前创作的。诗歌原文为克罗地亚语，李道先生将此翻译成英文版本，便于广大读者阅读。

这首诗是李道先生对2020年这个特殊时期的思考。他认为，诗歌中描述的场景与英国疫情期间的情况截然相反。那种孤立无援，暗淡无光的日子让人感到冰冷，但文字中无不透露出绝望和对光亮的渴求。

这让我们想起在2020年上半年的中国。自新冠疫情爆发，人们之间的团结互助，让处于暴风中心的人们真切感受到了患难见真情的情谊。

在抗击疫情的无数个日日夜夜，在无法与亲人朋友们团聚的每时每刻，虽然艰难苦闷，思念万分，但我们并不孤单。因为无论如何，我们都会怀揣着同一个坚定的信念，携手共进，一同迈向美好光明的生活。

2020年的冬天并没有那么寒冷。温暖，从未离开过我们身边。

如今，我们终于等到了春暖花开！

朗诵中文版诗歌的，是著名书法家、诗人、山东艺术学院教授于明诠。他起先是一位精通书法的艺术家，后来慢慢在诗歌上有了造诣。虽然他出版的诗歌不多，但作品刊登于《诗刊》、《星星》、《青年文学》、《诗探索》等具有业内影响力的专业期刊上。

在英国剑桥徐志摩诗歌艺术节成立之初，于教授连续两年受到诗歌艺术节主席麦克法兰院士的盛情邀请，前往剑桥大学国王学院访问，参与国际艺术展和诗歌朗诵会。可以说，于教授是该活动创立与发展的重要见证者。

李道先生是于明诠教授的老朋友了。虽然因为疫情原因，大家不能见面，但通过云上诗会共叙友谊，也是一大乐事。

How hard it is not to be strong,

how hard it is to be alone,

and to be old, yet to be young !

and to be weak, and powerless,

alone, with no one anywhere,

dissatisfied, and desperate.

And trudge bleak highways endlessly,

and to be trampled in the mud,

with no star shining in the sky.

Without your star of destiny

to play its twinklings on your crib

with rainbows and false prophecies.

– Oh God, oh God, remember all

the glittering fair promises

with which you have afflicted me.

Oh God, oh God, remember all

the great loves, the great victories,

the wreaths of laurel and the gifts.

And know you have a son who walks

the weary valleys of the world

among sharp thorns, and rocks and stones,

through unkindness and unconcern,

with his feet bloodied under him,

and with his heart an open wound.

His bones are full of weariness,

his soul is ill at ease and sad,

and he’s neglected and alone,

and sisterless, and brotherless,

and fatherless, and motherless,

with no one dear, and no close friend,

and he has no-one anywhere

except thorn twigs to pierce his heart

and fire blazing from his palms.

Lonely and utterly alone

under the hemmed in vault of blue,

on dark horizons of high seas.

Who can he tell his troubles to

when no-one’s there to hear his call,

not even brother wanderers.

Oh God, you sear your burning word

too hugely through this narrow throat

and throttle it inside my cry.

And utterance is a burning stake,

though I must yell it out, I must,

or, like a kindled log, burn out.

Just let me be a bonfire on

a hill, just one breath in the fire,

if not a scream hurled from the roofs.

Oh God, let it be over with,

this miserable wandering

under a vault as deaf as stone.

Because I crave a powerful word,

because I crave an answering voice,

someone to love, or holy death.

For bitter is the wormwood wreath

and deadly dark the poison cup,

so burn me, blazing summer noon.

For I am sick of being weak,

and sick of being all alone

(seeing I could be hale and strong)

and seeing that I could be loved),

汉语文本由陈尚真译自英国诗人李道的英语文本，李道的英语文本直接译自克罗地亚诗人丁·乌耶夫维茨（Tin Ujević，1891-1955）的作品原文。该诗发表于1920年，距今已有100年之久。

诗歌英译者

李道（Richard Berengarten），1943年出生于英国伦敦，世界著名诗人，出版著作超过30部，作品已经被翻译成100多种语言。他曾获众多诗歌奖项，其中包括徐志摩银柳叶奖（2017）、美娜德奖（马其顿，2011）、摩拉瓦河奖（塞尔维亚，2005）、犹太人季刊-温盖特奖（1992）、格利高里奖（1972）等。他最新出版了一部致敬中国经典《易经》的著作。

此外，他创作的纪念中国伟大诗人陶渊明的作品集《酒爵》（The Wine Cup）也即将出版。1975年，李道发起并举办剑桥国际诗歌节，该活动现已堪称诗歌界一大盛事。他还是2015年首届剑桥徐志摩诗歌艺术节的协调人之一。

李道曾在意大利、希腊、美国、前南斯拉夫等国生活，近年来也去过中国访问。他是剑桥大学唐宁学院和彭布罗克学院的附属学术成员、英语协会成员、哥伦比亚麦德林国际诗歌节首席顾问、意大利国际诗歌网站Margutte顾问编辑。

Richard Berengarten (Li Dao, b. London 1943) is an international poet with over 30 books. His poems have been translated into more than 100 languages. His awards include the Xu Zhimo Silver Willow Award (2017), Manada Prize (Macedonia, 2011), Morava Charter Prize (Serbia, 2005), Jewish Quarterly-Wingate Award (1992) and Gregory Award (1972). His latest book of poems is a homage to the Chinese classic, the I Ching, and his forthcoming collection The Wine Cup (“酒~爵”) honours the great Chenese poet Tao Yuan Ming. In 1975, Richard founded and ran the now-legendary international Cambridge Poetry Festival, and in 2015 he was one of the co-ordinators of the first Xu Zhimo Festival. He has lived in Italy, Greece, the USA, and former Yugoslavia, and recently has enjoyed visits to China. He is a Bye-Fellow at Downing College and an Academic Associate at Pembroke College, Cambridge; a member of the English Association; a Principal Counsellor to the Medellin International Poetry Festival in Colombia; and an advisory editor to the international poetry website Margutte, based in Italy.

于明诠，现为山东艺术学院教授，山东省高校重点学科首席专家，系中国书法家协会行书委员会委员，中国艺术研究院中国书法院研究员，山东省书法家协会副主席。

于教授曾多次参加全国书法展览并获奖，发表书论、诗文四十余万字，著有《是与不是之间》《我在乎书法里边有意思的那点意思》《闭上眼睛看》《书在哪？法是个啥》《墓志十讲》《书法篆刻教程》及个人作品集等二十余部。2015年出版诗集《单衣试酒》，长诗《点画呻吟》曾改编为诗歌剧，于2016年广州新年诗会搬上舞台。

2017年7月，于教授在中国现代文学馆与欧阳江河共同举办“墨写新文学”书法大展。2015年与2016年，他受邀访问英国剑桥大学国王学院，参加第一、二届剑桥徐志摩诗歌诗歌艺术节。
