编者按
2020年，因为疫情而第二次封锁在家的秋天，对于如今仍旧不得已宅居在家的英国朋友们来说，似乎就像昨天一样那么近。十月，寒露、霜降的节气。秋季接近尾声，气温骤降，冰雪季来临。新闻接收器几乎成了人们连接外界的唯一端口，让屋里的人不至于与社会脱节太多。倒不如就趁此机会，点上一首柴可夫斯基的舞曲，喘口气沉淀下吧。
接下来，有请英国著名诗人彼得·休斯（Peter Hughes）先生为我们朗诵他的依照去年的生活体验而撰写的诗集 The Seasons（《四季》）中的一个片段——October 2020（《2020年10月》），中文版由中国著名诗人龚学敏朗诵。

what about I don’t know maybe
Slow Motion Blackbird by Chris Hughes
to go along with the Tchaikovsky
as the rain is softly falling
in the radio & over all these mountains
woods & buildings people’s lives uneasily
co-existing with the branded news receptors
another acorn knocks on this thin cabin roof
the autumn oak leaves wonder when to fall
but this is when I make a brand new start
I’m calling it The Modulus of Rupture
a book of poems that might not see the light of day
but it’s good to have a project
that doesn’t fuck up an entire country
or world if you include the run up
well it’s true that a lot of dreams these days
feel pretty tame compared to modern film
or politics & news of yet another death
Les says they used to make the coffins out of elm
as it was more hospitable to bugs & fungi
& so settled into other modes of life
sooner than some of us expected
this wet day began again with an exemplary blackbird’s song
& this is just a temporary break

又一颗橡树果实掉落屋顶
橡树叶不知择何时飘落
而此刻正是我全新的开始
我为这诗集取名《极限强度》
虽可能永远无法问世
但不为国家世界添乱的项目
总归不是坏事
近期常常做梦
梦中场景不比现代电影
政治新闻或又一例死亡的消息
莱斯说他们常做榆木棺材
可以吸引昆虫真菌
更快植入其他生命形式
潮湿的日子伴着黑鸟的歌声再次开启
却也只是片刻歇息

诗歌作者
彼得·休斯（Peter Hughes），诗人、创意写作教师、蛎鹬出版社（Oystercatcher Press）创始编辑。出生于英国牛津市，曾在意大利生活数年，目前主要生活在威尔士北部地区。2013年，他的诗歌选集与《对特殊事物的直觉：彼得·休斯诗歌评论集》（‘An intuition of the particular’: some essays on the poetry of Peter Hughes）同时由Shearsman出版社出版。他根据意大利经典创作了《十分坦率》（Quite Frankly，Reality Street出版社）、《卡瓦尔康蒂》（Cavalcanty，Carcanet出版社）、《via Leopardi 21》（Equipage出版社）等众多充满创意的作品，广受好评。
彼得是剑桥大学朱迪斯·威尔逊基金诗歌项目的客座专家，以及剑桥大学莫德林学院在诗歌领域的客座院士。近期出版的作品包括：2019年的《柏林雾沫》（A Berlin Entrainment，Shearsman出版社）、2020年的《毕士大星座》（Bethesda Constellations，蛎鹬出版社）等。
彼得也是康河出版社的老朋友了，曾在2015年参加了剑桥徐志摩诗歌艺术节。
朗诵者
龚学敏，1965年5月生于四川省九寨沟县。1987年开始发表诗作。1995年春天，沿中央红军长征路线从江西瑞金到陕西延安进行实地考察并创作长诗《长征》。已出版诗集《九寨蓝》《紫禁城》《纸葵》等。《星星》诗刊杂志社社长，四川省作协副主席。
