编者按
“战争与和平”是很受文学家们关注的写作主题，乱世中的爱情仿佛废墟中开出的玫瑰，红过鲜血，过于娇艳。
来自英国的著名诗人、剑桥大学英语系教授、基督学院院士罗德·摩根（Rod Mengham），受到西方古代经典与当今现实之启发，创作了一系列关于爱情与战争的诗作。今天，我们就为大家精选该系列中的一首诗歌——《清除废弃物》（TO REPEAL THE SPOILS）。罗德·摩根教授将亲自朗诵英文原版的诗歌，中文版由中国著名诗人、中国诗歌学会会长杨克朗诵。

They dream continually of enriched uranium *.
Only the words are irreplaceable:
fixed languor and tardy dolour.
While you were listening and not paying attention
Ulysses lashed himself to the mist.
Show me your scar again, Ulysses
those volutes and the reappearing
numbness. That was your great discovery
an unreasonable desire for poetry while
swallowing blood. Now you find me shaking something
Penelope’s chevril glove, unharmed in the debris
on a worn-out carpet.
Just as the larks lose all sense of their bodies
so you are wearing your skirts much higher
every night in my bed. But my flight of bemusement
will not add up. The occasion demands flight
with its opposite number.
And I am on the verge of a steel vice
with a grief that spares nothing.
If and only if in twenty years time
I have no one else to write for
death will be borrowed and never returned
death will be flitting in the silence.

而我在铸钢台的边缘

若再赋予二十年的光阴

罗德·摩根（Rod Mengham）是英国著名诗人、作家、艺术评论家与学者，现任剑桥大学英语系教授、耶稣学院院士，也曾担任耶稣学院的艺术品收藏保管人。
罗德曾撰写与主编过一系列作品，包括关于十九、二十世纪的小说，二十世纪的诗歌，以及关于暴力、先锋派艺术、语言与文化历史主题的书籍。他也主编了一系列诗歌精选集，并联合编辑与翻译了《改变：波兰新诗歌》（2003）。他出版了自己的诗歌作品集《无声：新诗歌精选》（2001），《风暴的机遇》（2015），以及《格林斯庞与居住的艺术》（2018）。在过去的二十年中，罗德还发表了大量的艺术评论文章。
罗德是剑桥徐志摩诗歌艺术节的老朋友，曾在2016年与大家分享过他的诗歌作品，并参与了一系列活动。
Rod Mengham is the author and editor of books on 19th and 20th century fiction, 20th century poetry, violence and avant garde art, and language and cultural history.
He's also editor of the Equipage series of poetry pamphlets, and joint editor and translator of Altered State: the New Polish Poetry. His own poems have been published under the titles Unsung: New and Selected Poems (Salt, 2001), Chance of a Storm (Carcanet, 2015) and Grimspound & Inhabiting Art (Carcanet, 2018). In 2020, he was given a Cholmondely Award for Poetry by the UK Society of Authors.
In the last 20 years, he has published numerous art critical essays and has also worked as a freelance curator. He was Curator of Works of Art at Jesus between 2003 and 2018.

杨克是当代汉语诗人中一以贯之具有个人化历史想象力和求真意志的诗人，其城市诗歌写作开启了某种意义上的主体性。30多年来，他的现代诗走在“另一条大道上，那里有广阔的情感和传统的支撑，诗人可以大踏步走在人群前面”。
在人民文学出版社和台湾华品文创有限公司等出版《杨克的诗》《有关与无关》《我说出了风的形状》等11部中文诗集、4部散文随笔集和1本文集，日本思潮社、美国俄克拉赫马大学出版社、西班牙萨拉戈萨大学出版社等出版多种外语诗集，诗文收入《中国新文学大系》《中国新诗百年大典》等400种选本。主编《中国新诗年鉴（1998-2017每个年度）》《给孩子的100首新诗》等。
他曾获英国“剑桥徐志摩诗歌奖”、罗马尼亚出版版权总公司“杰出诗人奖”，广东鲁迅文艺奖、首届双年十佳诗人奖等外国、中国大陆和台湾文学奖十多种。在深圳美术馆等举办过诗书个展。现为广东外语外贸大学创意写作中心主任、云山讲座教授，北京大学诗歌研究院研究员。系中国作家协会主席团委员，中国诗歌学会会长。
