编者按
在心中种下一粒种子。在风吹雨打、四季变幻中用心浇灌，悉心栽培，生根发芽。盼望着有一天，它会长成你所希望的样子。
教育总是站在风口浪尖之上，是永恒的主题。康河出版社在教育界的老朋友——朱永新教授，于三十年前播下一粒新教育的种子，为我们构建了一个幸福美好的教育乌托邦。
2019年秋，朱教授与剑桥徐志摩诗歌艺术节的主席艾伦·麦克法兰（Alan Macfarlane）教授，共同撰写的《教育的对白》一书，由中国长江文艺出版社出版，深度探讨了一系列中英教育比较的相关问题。接下来，我们就请两位教育大师分别为我们朗诵中英文版本的诗歌《新教育的种子》（Seeds of New Education）。

我是一粒种子
一粒新教育的种子
我来自理想与激情催开的花儿
我无法选择我落到怎样的土壤
——富饶还是贫瘠，北国还是南方
无论把我埋得多深，我终将穿越泥土
向着明亮的那方
我是一粒种子
一粒新教育的种子
我是信念和坚韧孕育的果儿
我无法选择我面对的天空
——晴朗还是阴霾，湛蓝还是灰蒙
无论暴雨风霜，我早已对岁月承诺
让自己的生命绽放
我是一粒种子
一粒新教育的种子
为了那一次灿烂的绽放
我必须用一生的修行来涵养
——吸取土地的养料，抚摸太阳的光芒
无论冬季多么漫长，草长莺飞的春天
早已藏在我的心房
我是一粒种子
一粒新教育的种子
我有无数次前世今生的轮回
但是我最看重当下的力量
——曾经化为淤泥，换来今日芳香
无论遭遇什么，我都坚信自己
一次比一次芬芳
Seeds of New Education

I am a seed
A seed of new education
I come from the blooming flower nurtured by ambition and passion
I cannot choose what kind of soil I fall into
– fertile or barren, North or South
No matter how deep I am buried, I will eventually break through the soil
Towards that direction of brightness
I am a seed
A seed of new education
I am a fruit conceived by beliefs and determination
I am unable to choose the sky I face
– sunny or cloudy, crystal blue or grey misty
No matter whether storm or frost, I have promised to the years well in advance
To let my life bloom fiercely
I am a seed
A seed of new education
For that brilliant blooming
I must brew with all my life’s cultivation
– to absorb the nutrients from the land, to touch the beams of the sun
No matter how lengthy winter is, the spring when warblers fly and grass grows
Is already hidden in my heart
I am a seed,
A seed of new education
I have countless reincarnations from previous lives and present life
But what I appreciate most is
– I was once turned into mud, in exchange for today’s fragrance
Whatever I experience, I always firmly believe in myself
I will be more fragrant time and time again

朱永新，著名教育学家，博士生导师，新教育实验发起人，中国教育30人论坛和21世纪教育发展研究院共同发起人。他也是民进中央副主席，第十二届全国政协常委、副秘书长，曾任十一届全国人大常委、中国教育学会副会长。
他出版了《我的教育理想》《我的阅读观》《致教师》等40余种著作。因对教育理想的不懈追寻与执着行动，被评选为“当代教育名家”“全民阅读形象代言人”“为了公共利益”年度人物、中国教育60年60人、中国十大教育英才、中国改革十大新闻人物、中华十大财智人物、改革开放40年教育40人等。
他于2000年发起的新教育实验，以“过一种幸福完整的教育生活”为宗旨，吸引了全国各地5200余所学校加盟实验，践行着新教育理念与行动，深刻改变了570多万师生，正在积极影响着中国教育。

艾伦·麦克法兰（Alan Macfarlane），是剑桥大学社会人类学教授、剑桥大学国王学院院士、英国国家学术院院士。
有着学界“萌爷爷”之称的麦克法兰教授，早年就读于英国知名私立学校牛津“龙校”和“赛德伯中学”，随后在牛津大学获得历史学本科与博士学位，又于伦敦大学亚非学院获得社会人类学博士学位，在剑桥大学执教逾40年。作为世界知名历史学家与人类学家，他著述凡20余种，包括《英国个人主义的起源》、《玻璃的世界》、《绿金：茶叶帝国》、《日本镜中行》、《资本主义文化》、《现代世界的诞生》等，被译为多种文字，其中多部著作有中译本。
他对于玻璃与茶的全球影响力研究，在科学界、人文社科界和艺术界都产生了重要影响，被《Science 科学》等世界顶尖杂志及出版社出版。
Alan Donald James Macfarlane FBA FRHistS is an anthropologist and historian, and a Professor Emeritus of King's College, Cambridge. He is the author or editor of 20 books and numerous articles on the anthropology and history of England, Nepal, Japan and China.[1] He has focused on comparative study of the origins and nature of the modern world. In recent years he has become increasingly interested in the use of visual material in teaching and research. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and the Royal Historical Society.
